Refocused
After finally knocking out all the pre-reqs for culinary school (sanitation, safety, and mathmatical conversions), I have entered the kitchen! It is so much more exciting than I imagined it. I am two weeks in.
I decided to do the baking route before the cooking route because I thought I wouldn’t enjoy baking and wanted to “get it out of the way”.
I was wrong! Baking is a blast. Granted we have only covered the basics:
- Mixing methods
- Muffin Method
- Biscuit Method
- Creaming Method
- One-Stage Method
- Baker’s Percent
- Ingredient reactions
I think what I enjoy the most is being able to see what people do wrong. Being in large learning environment, it is really useful to see the multiple ways one product can ruin.
I will post recipes and photos when I can; both instructional and personal recipes. I have updated with a Biscochito and Thumbprint cookie recipes on my Portfolio page. The Empanada recipe will come soon once I get time to scale the recipe down. At the moment the batch is too large for any practical use.
